Loofahs

I'm into removing my upper epithelial cells these days. Especially since I've noticed an alarming amount of in-grown hairs after multiple epilates. With my depleted stock of body scrub, I decided to try out the manual method of applying loofahs.

Oh. Loofahs and goat's milk soap from Crabtree and Evelyn. I wasn't quite used to the abrasiveness of using loofahs and the goat's milk soap don't seem very moisturizing. My sister also commented that the expensive goat's milk soap smelled like cheap soap from a mama shop. Wtf. However, I did feel squeaky clean after the intensive exfoliating.

But I like my loofahs and... I is very tempted to buy a pretty soap dish for my bar of goat's milk soap. >.<

Spot the Brands! in Lady Gaga's Newest PV

I think Lady Gaga's newest song is pretty good despite it sounding like all her other hit songs. Or should I say that I like her Bad Romance's official video? Which subsequently made me like the song more.

And if she wasn't actually famous, I would've called her a fashionista. As it is, a famous fashionista is also more widely known as a celebrity. Hurrah.

Terrarium

  • Apr. 15th, 2009 at 11:25 PM

Guess what I'm into now? Terrarium!

I first stumbled onto this while blog surfing and though I have seen terrariums before, it never really registered to me that these little gardens are like mini ecosystems. I just referred to them as miniature glass gardens. LOL Now that I know its official terminology I feel so much smarter. XD

It was also the reason why I wanted to buy a cactus awhile ago. I had this inspiration to make a really tiny terrarium as a gift to a friend but these glass jars are a lot harder to find than one would expect. I suppose if you're a constant customer at IKEA it's easy enough to purchase but I don't normally travel anywhere near nurseries and furniture stores. In the end, my sister gave me a cactus as a birthday gift thinking that I wanted one for myself... So I decided to create my pet project - deviousandrogyny's terrarium project.

Unfortunately, it seems like I need to stock up on stuff like pebbles, activated charcoal, soil and moss, not to mention cookie jars or airtight glass jars before I start repotting my cactus. I'm also thinking of getting a few more plants. Rather tedious but should be easy once I get the basic "ingredients".

On some of my random searches for terrarium inspirations, I found some really pretty designs! Some ARE created by designers. >.< Rather astonishing, really. I'm thinking that I should get some of these air plants that are supposed to be really easy to grow... because they live off air or something and required next to nothing maintenance.

The picture below really made me smile. It's so cute! It's supposed to be a terrarium as well but not enclosed. I'm not sure if I'm ever able to nurture moss though.

And speaking about designer terrarium, check these out!

This space terrarium... costs $800. o.O But it does look pretty, in an alien way of course.

Apparently, I am a little late in the game because terrarium are all the rage on the blogosphere a few years back. >.< Hahaha.

Motley Crue

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 8:49 PM

Lately, I'm into Motley Crue. I know... I know, they're like super old so their music sounds really old school now.

It started when I was reading their autobiography, Motley Crue the dirt. One of the perks of my job of course. I'm only into the third chapter but the first two short chapters really got to me. How they described one of the member's girlfriend as Bullwinkle... and how frigging dirty their apartment was. Unbelievable. So I thought, what the heck is so good with these guys. They're like kids in grown up bodies so I youtubed them.

I don't like many of their songs but I thought they have some really hawt music going on. These are a couple of my favorites.

Er... this video is a bit explicit so I'm gonna warn you before you click play. It's not their music video but something they screened during their concert. The woman is a fetish model... called Rubberdoll I think... LOL Enjoy.

I've completed Code Geass R2 yesterday. I went OMFG at the end because I was so not expecting the ending to hit me like it did. o.O

Before that, I had wondered how the anime would end because from my experience, many good animes somehow end up with an ending that sucked big time. However, Code Geass had a fucking great ending. I highly recommend this to anyone like me who didn't want to watch the series just because it looked similar to Gundam because it's not!

My addiction hasn't been sated so I guess it's time to head for the fanfiction archives to look for some smashing fanfics! Wahahaha.

Venting frustrations in general. )

Code Geass

And so I spent my Chinese New Year eves alternating between gorging myself with starchy and cholesterol filled dinners and watching Code Geass. Finished season one yesterday, or should I say this morning and I'm moving onto to R2 (season two).

I've only started watching it now because I kept thinking it was a meca anime, and only picked it up when I saw the anime art through its trailer. I'm glad that I gave it a shot because the anime is mostly not about meca. In fact, the meca art is bad... It's a lot about politics and military strategies, racial prejudices and subjugation and genocide. A little dark and heavy than what I would normally choose to watch but nevertheless, the plotline is good.

I also like the fact that the main lead is an anti-hero. He's a masked leader of the rebellion but he's not from the race that is being "enslaved". I like it because he's despicable! Hahaha. This may seem strange but I loathe meca animes merely because the main lead is always some self-sacrificing angsty teenager who is given a powerful weapon to fight against evil forces. Here, the main lead, Lelouch, doesn't always fight on the front lines, he actually prefers to fight behind the scenes, giving directions and letting others do the dirty work so to speak. And it fits in because as a commander of the rebel forces, he can't really concentrate on strategizing if he's fighting one on one. He also has a great sense of self-preservation and well, runs away whenever he knows the situation turns bad. Good trait, in my opinion. Lelouch is also blood thirsty. He thrives on chaos and destruction. What a delicious character!

Good and bad is blurred here and depends greatly on which side you look from. Doesn't this relate to how things work here in the real world? Sure, Britannia may be a bureaucratic empire, and yes the colonized countries are suffering under the rule of the Britannian's purists but on the other hand, the colonized countries' economies have vastly improved.

Watching Code Geass brings me back to the secondary and junior college school days when I had to study British colonization policies. I'm sure it seems nice and dandy on history books but it might have been a lot worse in reality, no? Maybe Code Geass IS based on real history? Afterall, Britannia sounds like Britain. Hn...

Have a cuppa.

How nice. Wish there was a cafe like this in Singapore. I'll go purely for the coffee art!

Iljimae

Yes. My current obsession is the Korean drama series: iljimae. In fact, I'd finished watching the entire series within a week. And yes, I know that for some inane reason, I really love period dramas. I only watch period dramas... selectively.

I wasn't going to watch it until I realized that the main lead was Lee Junki who was the "star" of the slashy The King and The Clown. I went bonkers over that movie some time ago. Still speechless at how Lee Junki can be prettier than the two female leads in iljimae. Hahaha. But then, if he wasn't so androgynously gorgeous, I wouldn't have picked up watching it.

The gist of the story is that a boy's family was tragically maligned. With his father killed, his sister and mother were sold as servants while he escaped to be brought up in a poor family after losing his memories. Fast forward thirteen years later, he regains his memory during a severe pummeling in a underground fist fight and evolves into iljimae in the attempt to find out who his father's killer was and to avenge the wrongs done to his family.

Needless to say, Korean dramas have a perchant to be really tragic and dramatic, so expect a lot of suffering and tears. But I did fine after tolerating the first two episodes which was excruciatingly long winded. The good side of it is that Lee Junki is er... cute. Really cute, in an androgynous pretty way of course. I don't detest the other characters either which in itself is a miracle because there's usually bound to be one or two characters that I'll hate. Instead, I find myself able to find redeeming qualities in each of them and those that don't... well, I empathize. Hahaha.

The other good thing about Korean dramas like this is that there is always a couple of nice sad ballads! Hwasin - is lead song - is playing on loop in my iPod. The rest of the soundtrack is pretty good too. A mix between flutes and string instruments create a traditional Asian feel to it, not counting the fast rhythmic ones they use for action scenes.

If you haven't watched it, it's time to start! Here.

Latest Addiction

  • Jul. 23rd, 2008 at 9:04 AM

Chinese BL novels! Yes, asides from frantically doing assignments, going for lessons, looking for job, I had taken on reading Chinese BL novels.

I love those wu xia xiao shuo (historical martial arts novels) ones especially.

Latest Addiction - Melon Drink

  • Jul. 18th, 2008 at 2:41 PM

Let me introduce my latest addiction: Pokka's Melon Milk drink!

I found this drink at NAFA's vending machine on the way to class and decided to try it. Immediate gratification. Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but I'm loving the way the taste of melon is mixed with milk. The melon tastes like honeydew melon by the way. Maybe a little on the sweet side, but the drink isn't too thick.

$1 from the vending machine. I have not yet discovered it on the shelves of supermarkets or mama shops.

Latest Addiction

My latest addiction is Chanel's nail polish,  Lotus Rouge #455.

I have finally found the exact shade of red that I love, and can wear to work and can wear for "punk" effect and even looks good on my hands. :: pirouettes ::

The only problem is that it's rather nasty to remove...

Massive Food Post!

  • Jun. 15th, 2008 at 12:21 PM

This post confirms the fact that I can't seem to control my eating habits. I like eating (good food) too much and somehow these always turn out to be the fried and greasy category. Le sigh. Need to decrease body fat! Wahahaha.

Nevertheless, these photos have been accumulated over the past one to two weeks. Yes, I know. I like overindulging too. >.<

Not sure why some of the photos turned out blur. Maybe cause I didn't turn off the macro function?

UCC Coffee & Creamer

  • May. 16th, 2008 at 11:09 PM

Writing multiple entries per day! I think I'm a compulsive blogger/LiveJournaler. Just want to share my latest addiction: UCC coffee and creamer! There's nothing better to start a day at work than a hot cup of coffee.

I'm really loving these convenient pots of creamers. Waay better than Coffee Mate that tends to not dissolve properly if one, the water was not hot enough or two, the Coffee Mate has been kept for a long time. UCC Cafe Plus tastes better than Coffee Mate too!

And yes, the photo was taken on an in-tray that I've used to store my "pantry" stuff at the side of my table.
