Spot the Brands! in Lady Gaga's Newest PV

I think Lady Gaga's newest song is pretty good despite it sounding like all her other hit songs. Or should I say that I like her Bad Romance's official video? Which subsequently made me like the song more.

And if she wasn't actually famous, I would've called her a fashionista. As it is, a famous fashionista is also more widely known as a celebrity. Hurrah.

Home Sweet Home

  • Jun. 9th, 2009 at 10:44 PM

Have you ever wondered how your future home will look like?

I'm pretty sure that everyone out there has some kind of idea on what kind of design they would like to have, but truly? I'm asking this because (1) it's my dream to own an apartment and (2) I have just too many ideas that I'm conflicted over what sort of concept I want. Despite the fact that I can't afford an apartment or I'm not eligible to own one anytime soon, it doesn't stop me from fantasizing over it, ne?

Sometimes, I envision my hallway with a zen like mini stone garden like chic little wooden steps and then... at times, I totally think I should go for the cluttered and cozy look like this.

There will be that quaint little wood table and bench offsetting a french window facing out. A smeg fridge but gawds I don't think I can ever afford one. And then a few more steps will bring me into a dolby digital sound system haven for DVD watching and here and there you'll see pretty shelves holding some of my most precious book collections.

And surely, my bedroom will consist of a queen sized bed with sloped ceilings or curtains (which I doubt since I had cleaning much) and a shelves full of the stuff I've collected over the years from traveling, books, nick knacks, a bedside lamp and a few picture frames.

Sigh, I can dream.

And yet another want.

I seem to have a consistent liking for black leather bags. Pretty, pretty!

My Latest Look Through URBAN

  • Oct. 10th, 2008 at 1:22 PM

It has been a while since I last browsed through a copy of URBAN (The Straits Times) so when I picked up today's newspaper, I noticed a number of changes.

Firstly, under the HEY GOODLOOKING section where they post up street photography, there is a remarkable difference in type of people featured. When they used to have ordinary people in street casual (whom don't look like they deserve to be on the page), they now feature more mature and formally dressed characters. I really believe this is due to Vogueite's critical comments on what they did before. LOL Even with the marked improvement, I still think they don't get it. I feel that people with an interesting individualistic sense of style is better than expensive, follower of trends style. But ah well, that's just my opinion.

The sections on Spring/Summer 09 trends (pages 10 to 15) seems like a severe rip off from popular local fashion bloggers like Vogueite and Fashion Nation which makes me think that maybe bloggers can do a better job than these bloody journalists. I'm not eating sour grapes, I swear.

However, I thought the write up Pretty In Pose and the interview with Nina Garcia was good. Why can't we have more of those?

Oh yeah, I need someone's Kinokuniya card because I want to buy Garcia's new book The One Hundred.

KIV - Anja's Style

  • Oct. 9th, 2008 at 2:22 PM

This is Anja (a model whom I have featured in several entries before) doing a pre-show model walk through for Balmain i.e. something like a rehearsal.

Yes, those are her own clothes and style.

KIV - Dressing Green

  • Jul. 9th, 2008 at 11:54 PM

Green has never been my color. But the girl in retro green below is inspiring. Short cropped hair, green vintaged-inspired (or is it retro?) patterned dress, thick belt. Oh, she wore some neon-colored tights with it which is a little too overwhelming for me. I'll prefer matching it in purple brown or black stockings with high pumps.

Coincidentally, I just bought a green striped dress from Pull and Bear last weekend. I haven't worn it yet but this serves as a good illustration of what I can do.

KIV - Various Fav Looks

  • Jun. 12th, 2008 at 10:56 AM

It's been a pretty long time since my last entry on new collections. Just picking out a few of the looks here.

I find that the "slouchy" sometimes come in tandem with the androgynous look. But "slouchy" doesn't necessarily mean androgynous too. I love the real life examples shown below.

Jenni Kayne Resort 2009

More than that, I feel that the "slouchy" look gives a certain air of attitude.

I know... I know... The whole belt over cardigan thing is so overused. But ever since I saw Keira Knightly in Silk dressed in such a way, it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, I don't think there are many people who can pull off this look. Namely, people with thick waistlines.

Burberry Prorsum Resort 2009

I haven't  tried this look on myself yet. But I recently got a long thin cardigan from POA and I'm just dying to try it. Wait... still looking for the perfect belt! :: faints ::

Looking Prada Resort 2009 collection, my first thought was Wizard of Oz's Emerald City. ^_^ I'm not into the color green. But the brightness and the tone of emerald green on black is sheer beauty. This kind of makes me feel like getting some nice sparkling green blings to go with my often black working wardrobe.

The black on green looks gorgeous too.

KIV - The Cloche Hat

  • May. 16th, 2008 at 9:01 AM

I wrote about the cloche hat in my old blog. So I was quite surprised to see it revived!

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2009

Well, I guess it's time to bring out my bright red cloche hat again! ^O^

KIV - Fedora

  • Apr. 24th, 2008 at 8:36 PM

I've always figured fedoras were like the hat that iconic Indiana Jones wears, so I'd never liked it. Too masculine. Too unflattering.

But... but... but...

This Chanel fedora is giving me eye twitches.

I love the photography and editing too.

KIV - Gladiator Sandals

  • Apr. 13th, 2008 at 6:27 PM

I know. Harping about gladiator sandals is very late into the season but I've loved it ever since I saw it on the runway for Balenciaga. I've always resisted getting a pair though due to practical reasons. I really don't see myself wearing a pair often enough.

But just the other day, I saw a girl in Citylink wearing thick leather laced sandal heels, and now with this picture of Nine West sandals...

I AM POSITIVELY DROOLING.

Despite the fact that I don't buy from Nine West, and despite the fact that I only have a fraction of my weekend to wear those blasted heels... I guess it's time to use my Isetan vouchers to go shopping in Nine West soon. Does Isetan have Nine West anyways?

Add on: I bought my shoes! The stupid Nine West shop in Wisma didn't have dark brown so I got the black ones. And the stupid Nine West shop in Wisma had really bad service! And... and... and... the stupid Nine West shop had tagged the wrong price tag on the shoes! Unforgivable!

Alex + Chloe

  • Apr. 9th, 2008 at 11:14 PM

If I ever do get married, I don't want those bloody rings with don't know how many carats diamond(s) on it. You know, the ones that ALL women to be married wears? If I'm going to wear an accessory, it should bloody well accentuate my personality and style. That's why I :: heart :: Alex + Chloe's Black Diamond collection.

Marc Jacobs

How sporting! A world famous designer posing for a street photographer.

I must say, he looks pretty good for his age. The demands don't seem to affect him much.

KIV - That Collar / Choker Thing!

I'm inspired to create my own choker-over-blouse-collar!

KIV - The Knotted Belt (Again...)

  • Feb. 9th, 2008 at 4:58 PM

It seems like the knotted belt is a favorite with designers for the Fall 2008 Ready to Wear collections. Previously, I wrote an entry on the belt here. Seems like another designer thinks it is a good idea to simply tie a knot than belt it the normal way.

KIV - Belt It!

  • Feb. 4th, 2008 at 12:07 AM

I've been searching for that perfect belt forever (because I'm too skinny, many belts don't fit me...). The perfect clasp... The round hoop... The studs... The leather...

Aghast!

BCBGMax Azria Fall 2008

Turns out that the clasp and hoops are irrelevant. I have to say that it's an interesting way to use a belt. I will have no problems buying the belt then. ^^
